Solvent Waste
Halogenated and non-halogenated solvents should be collected in separate 5-litre containers. Each container should be labelled indicating the responsible research group and whether it contains halogenated or non-halogenated waste. Yellow labels can be obtained from stores.
Disposal Procedure
- Ensure the lid is closed tightly.
- Label the container (yellow label from stores), highlighting the type of waste and group name.
- Remove to the external solvent store and place on the appropriate shelves.
Waste solvents are collected at the start of each month by an external contractor.
